Lingcod

Large mouth, with large teeth.

Typically dark brown or green body, with many spots and blotches.

  
A bottom fish that lives near rock and kelp beds, Lingcod is a very popular species caught for food across in the Pacific Northwest and especially in British Columbia

Length

40 to 50 cm (16 to 20 inches)

Weight

6 to 10 kg (10 to 20 lbs)

Habitat

Found across the North Pacific. In B.C., they are widely dispersed and very common.

Fishing

Year ‘round. Found in both deep ocean and shallow, inshore waters. Often successfully caught using larger live bait such as squid or mackerel but wil readily take a jig or trolled lure.

Cooking

Mild flavour and low in fat. Baking and pan frying are popular.
